Specifications:
Curtain Size:
I'll be direct: if a supplier tells you their polyester curtain is GOTS certified, they're either confused or hoping you won't check. GOTS is for organic natural fibers-cotton, linen, wool. It doesn't apply to synthetic textiles, recycled or not. What a product like this should carry is Global Recycled Standard (GRS) for the recycled content and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for chemical safety. Those are the real credentials. Starting a conversation with the wrong certification is a red flag, because it suggests the supplier is copy-pasting claims rather than understanding their own supply chain.

Material & Craftsmanship:
Fabric:
High-quality polyester, durable and easy to clean.

Craftsmanship:
In single-layer form, the velvet pile absorbs light better than a flat weave at the same weight, but it won't give total blackout. For sleeping rooms, you need a backing. The way it's applied matters: a direct coating on a velvet face risks flattening the pile and changing the surface texture permanently. A laminated backing preserves the velvet feel on the room side. The lined version changes the drape slightly-it becomes a bit more structured, a bit less fluid-so if you're planning to spec the lined version, start from a lined sample rather than comparing lined production against an unlined sample card.

Quality Certifications:
ISO 9000: International quality management certification.

SGS Certifications: Formaldehyde-free and flame-retardant.

Installation and maintenance
- Installation: Provide professional installation guidance to ensure the curtains are properly installed.

FAQ
What certifications, exactly?
GRS for recycled content, with chain-of-custody documentation. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for chemical safety. If you need specific documentation formats for a green building audit, ask early-the certification bodies issue different certificate types for different jurisdictions, and your registrar may need to see the facility-level cert rather than just the product-level one.
How does the velvet hold up in laundry?
The pile stays intact because of the heat-set finishing process. What you'll see first is pilling at the fold lines where the curtain bunches on the track-this happens with any velvet at any weight, but you'll notice it earlier on a lighter fabric. If the curtain is going to be tied back and released daily, consider a double-track setup with a separate sheer at the window face to reduce how often housekeeping handles the velvet panel itself.
Does this pass fire codes?
The base fabric has some melt-drip resistance, but it won't pass NFPA701 or BS5867 without an FR treatment. We apply it at the finishing stage. The treatment chemistry is OEKO-TEX-compatible, so it doesn't void the chemical safety cert. If your project requires a specific standard, confirm it at the inquiry stage-the treatment formulation varies by target standard.
Won't lightweight look cheap in a guest room?
It depends on the mounting. On a standard track with ripple-fold or pinch-pleat heading, this fabric drapes with a soft, fluid line. It doesn't look thin-it looks light. That reads as appropriate in a coastal resort or a modern boutique property. In a traditional five-star setting where the expectation is a heavy, structured drape, it would feel underweight. The velvet surface helps, but it can't compensate for the mass difference. If your project is the latter, this probably isn't the right product.
Custom colors
Yes, from the recycled yarn supplier's dye-capable feedstock, at a minimum quantity per colorway. We match Pantone references. For smaller quantities, the stock range covers roughly a dozen shades-mostly neutrals and a few deep tones. The color depth on recycled polyester can be slightly different from virgin due to the dye uptake characteristics of recycled fiber, so a physical sample match is always better than relying on a digital color code.
